Rebecca's Recommendations - September 8, 2006

8 September 2006

By Rebecca Liggero

I would like to begin with thanking all the individuals who sent me blackjack tips for the Golden Palace tournament I will be participating in next week. Now that I'm equipped with some enlightening blackjack knowledge, there is a chance that I won't completely embarrass myself. Ok, so before launching into my recommendations for the week, there is one "tip" I particularly enjoyed and would like to share with all of you:

Interesting. Ok, if this was a joke, thank you for the good laugh. Absolutely brilliant. If this was not a joke, again, thank you for the good laugh, but I think you're taking my newsletter stories a bit too seriously. Regardless, I replied with, "Why don't you unsubscribe?" and the response was, "YOU ARE OBNOXIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and "I HOPE YOU FAIL". You know what? Who ever you are, please send me your address so I can mail you a travel voucher for a trip to a beautiful, exotic island. You really need a vacation.

On a lighter note, lets move on to an uncontroversial topic such as poker tournaments. My friends over at Mansion Poker have put together an exclusive Free Roll tournament for Casino City players at 8pm EST on Sunday, September 10th with a $1000 prize pool. To sign up for the tournament, please visit Mansion Poker from a Casino City link, open up an account at Mansion, and enter the password "mansioncity" under the correct tournament listing. If this tournament is a success, I have been promised bigger and better tournaments for Casino City players, so please sign up and enjoy some free online poker! Also, please don't forget that Mansion has a fantastic casino as well- sign up now and receive a 100% match up to $1000 on your first deposit in addition to a 50% match up to $500 on your second and third deposit.

Just in case you need a break from gaming sites, I would like to suggest a new and exciting weekend activity for you. eCOGRA released an online gambling player survey on September 5th that you must participate in. The purpose of this project is to gather the opinions of online casino and poker players so the industry can have a better understanding of the behavior, attitude, needs and concerns of online players. The resulting "eCOGRA Global Online Gambler Report" will be available for public viewing in January of 2007, and if you are interested in contributing, please fill out the survey online as soon as you can.

Lastly, I have a few announcements before I embark upon my one week adventure in Vegas:

1)In lieu my usual Rebecca's Recommendations write up next week, I will be sending out an invitation for The Pirate Slot Tourney at I hope you enjoy it!

2)Today is my birthday- I just turned 21! What a relief- now I don't have to worry about underage drinking anymore. Rebecca

Rebecca Liggero, a native of Wellesley, Massachusetts, has always loved meeting new people, building relationships, and traveling the world – perfect qualities for someone who, since early 2005, has won many friends and influenced countless people in the worldwide online gaming community.

After graduating from Bates College with a degree in psychology, Rebecca spent four years in Washington, DC, working in relationship management, dreaming all the while about someday making it big in online gaming. After turning down an opportunity to live in New Zealand, she moved back to Boston and signed on as Senior Account Manager for Casino City – the beginning of a dream come true!

Rebecca’s work on behalf of Casino City (and later for the GPWA as well) took her to trade shows and conferences everywhere – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Costa Rica, Montreal, London, Las Vegas, Macau and many other ports of call – and along the way she began chronicling her incredible around-the-clock adventures in a wildly entertaining and industry-savvy weekly column that quickly became – and still remains – must reading for everyone who is anyone in online gaming. Following almost three years with the Casino City team, Rebecca spent a few months at Everest Affiliates where she was the Brand Manager of the affiliate program. While working on “the other side,” she realized that she truly missed her weekly column and the affiliate side of the business and decided to return to the Casino City family.

One and a half years later, Rebecca resigned from Casino City and joined industry icon Calvin Ayre to serve as the Bodog Global Brand Ambassador and the head on-site reporter for the online gambling industry tablog, In her new capacity, Rebecca continues to travel the world, and when asked where she is based, her response is usually "on an airplane."
