Rebecca's Recommendations - July 7, 2006

7 July 2006

By Rebecca Liggero

I just returned from Paris and lets just say it was both an amazing and educational experience. The wedding weekend was exquisite, fun, and enjoyable, and Paris itself was, well, "interesting". Here are some highlights for your enjoyment:
1)During the actual wedding ceremony, all 250 of us mingled on the roof deck of a yacht while sailing up and down the Seine and listing to Frank Sinatra.
2)France defeated Brazil in the quarter finals of the World Cup while I was attending a pre-wedding celebration at a club on the Champs-Elysees. Paris was completely out of control! The bonfires, tear gas, riots, and broken bottles make the 1 hour walk home rather disturbing.
3)The Parisians do not believe in air conditioning.
4)I jogged from the Eiffel Tower to the Louvre, up the Champs-Elysees, past the Arc de Triomphe and back to the Eiffel Tower each day.
5)I met up with one of my BetOnSports contacts for dinner as he was randomly in town for vacation.
6)I got in a screaming fight with a rude French waiter and his twice as rude manger. Me! I never fight with anyone! I ordered a Stoli Orange and soda, he brings me vodka, a pitcher of orange juice, and a bottle of Perrier. Um, ok, fine, but he charged me individually for each item resulting in a grand total of 25 Euros. I don't think so. Needless to say, I did not pay the full 25 Euros and I will never go back to Le Paris on the Champs-Elysees. But enough about me. This week I want to tell you about a fantastic poker promo, VIP.com's consolidation, and last but not least, I have a very special announcement.

Pacific Poker, part of the 888.com family and sister site to Casino-on-Net, will be sponsoring a huge poker event for new and existing players from July 14th through July 16th. This "$888,888 Weekend" includes marathon of blackjack, roulette, video slots and poker tournaments with an $888,888 prize pool and four chances to win a $200,000 first prize. Additionally, for the month of July only, Pacific Poker is offering all new players a 50% welcome bonus up to $100 as opposed to the standard 25% bonus up to $100. For more details about the $888,888 weekend, please visit Pacific Poker between now and July 14th!

Next I would like to tell you about VIP.com which is now under new and improved ownership. Casino City has always had a solid relationship with VIP Casinos, VIP Poker and VIP Sports and now these three sites have been pulled together under a single brand and website. Why should you care? According to VIP.com's marketing manager, "customers have access to what they want when they want it". More specifically, navigation around the site and account activity management is simpler, there is easy access to casino, poker and sports from one menu, and customer service and support has been streamlined. I have enjoyed working with VIP for many reasons, and sure enough, VIP Casino, Poker and Sports are all featured sites on Casino City. Please check out the new and improved VIP.com and enjoy some real VIP service!

Ok, now its time for my special announcement. I am leaving Casino City. It has been fun. Ha ha ha. Just kidding. In all seriousness, I am very pleased to announce Casino City has just purchased the Gaming Portal Webmasters Association (GPWA). What does this mean for you? Depends on who is reading, I guess. For my players, this means I will have even more of an inside scoop on promotions, customer service, reliability and honesty of online gaming sites. For my industry friends and clients, stay tuned for announcements and improvements, and I hope to see you at our conference in September!Rebecca

Rebecca Liggero

Rebecca Liggero, a native of Wellesley, Massachusetts, has always loved meeting new people, building relationships, and traveling the world – perfect qualities for someone who, since early 2005, has won many friends and influenced countless people in the worldwide online gaming community.

After graduating from Bates College with a degree in psychology, Rebecca spent four years in Washington, DC, working in relationship management, dreaming all the while about someday making it big in online gaming. After turning down an opportunity to live in New Zealand, she moved back to Boston and signed on as Senior Account Manager for Casino City – the beginning of a dream come true!

Rebecca’s work on behalf of Casino City (and later for the GPWA as well) took her to trade shows and conferences everywhere – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Costa Rica, Montreal, London, Las Vegas, Macau and many other ports of call – and along the way she began chronicling her incredible around-the-clock adventures in a wildly entertaining and industry-savvy weekly column that quickly became – and still remains – must reading for everyone who is anyone in online gaming. Following almost three years with the Casino City team, Rebecca spent a few months at Everest Affiliates where she was the Brand Manager of the affiliate program. While working on “the other side,” she realized that she truly missed her weekly column and the affiliate side of the business and decided to return to the Casino City family.

One and a half years later, Rebecca resigned from Casino City and joined industry icon Calvin Ayre to serve as the Bodog Global Brand Ambassador and the head on-site reporter for the online gambling industry tablog, CalvinAyre.com. In her new capacity, Rebecca continues to travel the world, and when asked where she is based, her response is usually "on an airplane."
